CorelDraw short-cuts + tips to save time
I am using CorelDraw since 2004. I discovered these short-cuts on the job. I started my career with this application, now you can understand my love with this software. So toady I am sharing my trade-secrets with you
. If you want to know anything specific then leave your request in comments. I will be updating this list as I will get time.
1. Drawing a rectangle same size as your art-board: ![]()
If you are struggling to match the size of a box with your art-board, then here is a short-cut—just double click the rectangle icon in the tool box and you will have a outline covering your art-board.
2. Short-cut for getting in or out of Power Clip.
After putting your artwork in ‘Power Clip’ what do u do to get in? Most of the CorelDraw user go by the ‘Edit Content’ to go in and use ‘Finish Editing Object’ button to get out. Phew!! so much clicks, here is a short-cut to go inside:
1) Select the object.
2) Press CTRL and click over the power cliped object, See around you are in!
And when you are in, to go outside the power clip press the CTRL and click anywhere outside your art board area.

3. Why does my PowerClip objects aligned center always?
When PowerCliping the object, by-default its placed in the center of the container even if you overlap them.

To place the object where it is in the art-board, do the following:
1) Go to Tools menu
2) Click on Options
3) In the Edit > uncheck this: ‘Auto-center new PowerClip contents’.

4. Easy Navigation of your artwork.
Its surprising! that sometime things are so near to you but you can’t see. This hidden tool is one of them. A pop-up window opens to navigate when you click the square icon between the scroll bars.

5. Move Straight.
When moving an object with mouse, press the CTRL while moving the object, it will move in straight direction.
6. While your target object is selected, right click the desired color swatch and your object’s color will be replaced by the clicked color, if your object doesn’t have the stroke then it will get a new hairline stroke.
7. Copy Options
There are many ways to copy objects in CorelDraw:
1) Press the ‘+’ key while your object is selected and a copy of object will be placed at the top of your existing object.
2) While moving an object press the space-bar, your moving object will leave behind copy of it.
3) Using the right click of your mouse: Again while moving an object with mouse just right click and get a brand new copy of your object.
